Chelsea carried the away goal from the first leg back to Stamford Bridge with a clean sheet that would send them to the finals of the Champions League.

Eden Hazard returned to Stamford Bridge for the first time since leaving, with Sergio Ramos back from injury into the starting XI for the visitors.

Karim Benzema came close to add on his goal tally from the first leg by bending the shot around Thiago Silva, only for Edouard Mendy to save it with his fingertips in the 26th minute.

However, Chelsea punished Real Madrid’s missed chances when Timo Werner scored a header into an open net. N’Golo Kanté dissected the midfield with his passing to allow Kai Havetz shot hitting the bar. With Real Madrid’s goalkeeper nowhere in sight, Werner leaped to slot the ball into the empty net in the 27th minute.

Benzema once again came close in the 35th minute after Luka Modric crossed the ball into the box for the Frenchman to header the ball at Mendy.

The first half ended with Real Madrid dominating the ball but with Chelsea in the lead.

The second half began with Havertz’s header hitting the bar from skipper César Azpilicueta’s cross.

Once again, Chelsea came close in the 53rd minute when Werner laid it off for Mason Mount to go in front of the goal but Courtois made himself big and made Mount blast the ball over the bar.

Chelsea was knocking on Real Madrid’s goal with a counter-attack but Kanté’s shot was blocked by Federico Valverde’s foot.

It seemed like Chelsea missed chances could have come back to haunt them but Mount sealed the victory in the 86th minute. Kanté once again stole the ball in midfield and sent the substitute Christian Pulisic off but what seems like a missed opportunity, he crossed it in for Mount to blast the ball into the net.

The game ended with Chelsea missing several chances but preventing Real Madrid from scoring a goal so an all-English Final once again in the UEFA Champions League.
