Another mass shooting happened at a high school in America resulting in one dead and two wounded.

At 7:55am on Tuesday morning, just before the first period had started, a shooting was reported from the Great Mills High School, in Maryland.

Authorities say that Austin Wyatt Rollins, armed with a handgun, shot a 16 year old female and a 14 year old male student. It is also said that the shooter had a prior relationship with the female student.

Soon after at 8:30am, the St Mary’s County Sheriff Tim Cameron confirmed that a shooting had actually happened at the high school just half an hour away from Washington DC and that the situation had been contained.

The Maryland Governor tweeted:

“We are closely monitoring the situation at Great Mills High School. @MDSP is in touch with local law enforcement and ready to provide support. Our prayers are with the students, school personnel, and first responders”.

The parents of the 1,600 students who attend the school were told not to go there but instead reunite with their children at the nearby Leonardtown High School.

Some students say that after the Florida shooting last month, similar threats were made to Great Mills High School.

The shooter was later pronounced dead, the female student is in hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries and the male student is in stable condition.
