Writing has millions of benefits and it’s something that anyone can do. Although anyone can write, to do so well takes time and practice. With that being said, there are various types of writing. From fiction, to nonfiction, personal journaling to writing news articles, the variety makes for many outlets. Old and new studies have reported many benefits to writing, rather it is expressive or not. Writing has shown to be psychologically, emotionally and even physically beneficial in some ways. An article by blogger Gregory Ciotti reported that writing has the following benefits: Makes people happier, leads to better thinking and communicating, Provides an outlet for handling difficult times, Keeps people sharp with age, Leads to increase gratitude, etc. If you’re interested in the details, I would definitely suggest looking into the article, as I believe it could persuade even those heavily against writing to pick up a pen and a piece of paper. Without writing, there are so many rewarding pieces of literature that would have never been published and many people would not have a way to share the creativity or wisdom within their minds. Writing is a God send to many people.
For this reason, the concept of blogging and journaling has grown in popularity throughout the years. While journaling is something more personal, blogging is often done for a personal and public reason. On the individual side, blogging allows a person to share their thoughts, talents or creativity with the rest of the world. There are many types of blogs such as travel blogs, cooking blogs, relationship blogs, etc. Each one has its own form of uniqueness based on the person who is doing the blogging. On the public scale, people often get information and inspiration from other people’s blogs. It reassures them that whatever they’re going through has also happened to someone else in the world, or helps them gain knowledge of new things to create or try.
Besides blogging, there are also platforms out there that allow users to voice their opinion and then share them with the world. The difference between using a platform as opposed to blogging is the amount of people who may read it. Since platforms have already developed a certain presence online and already has subscribers, the writer is getting a boost in views. One platform which recently launched is called ScribersHive. ScribersHive is a branch of the social enterprise You Press, which believes that power and change come from words. It is a unique platform with a social purpose; which sets it apart from other writing platforms. It aims to empower young people (aged 16-30 years) to find their voice and be heard through writing and creative arts. ScribersHive connects you to social issues, topics, stories & debates that matters to you in a unique and interactive way. When it comes to audience responses and constructive criticism, all comments are reviewed to ensure they are promoting the conversation at hand instead of distracting from it.
With being a writer comes a lot of power; the power to influence, inspire, or change a person’s mind for the better. It isn’t always easy but at the end of the day it is well worth it when you see that people are improving due to your words.
