Two men were murdered on Wednesday night in the borough of Hackney raising the London murder rate to 50 since the beginning of the year.

One of the victims is a 53-year-old man, who died following an assault on Upper Clapton Road.

Later, an 18-year old boy was found dead by the police around 8:00pm on Link Road, Hackney after they were alerted by some motorcyclists.

They victim, identified as Israel Ogunsola, IT student at Hertfordshire University, was stabbed and pronounced dead at the scene after authorities tried to give him first aid.

Relating to the homicide two boys, 18 and 17 have been arrested in suspicion of murder.

Those two murders happened just two days after a young girl Tanesha Melbourne was killed in Tottenham with a gunshot in her chest and two people were injured in Walthamstow, one of which was then reported dead, Amaan Shakoor.

In regard to what happened the Mayor of Hackney tweetted:

“Two awful incidents in Hackney tonight, two lives cut short by violence. Thoughts w/family & friends. Witnessed response of dedicated emergency services to fatal stabbing in Morning Lane. Complex causes of this recent rise in violence, requiring ongoing multi-layered response 1/2 “

“inc. continued investment in dedicated youth work both from statutory services & community/vol. sector: close partnership between police, council & other agencies (like Hackney’s Integrated Gangs Unit) but can’t ignore impact of reduced police resources & role of social media 2/2”

Israel Ogunsola was friends on Facebook with Tanesha Melbourne, a detail which still hasn’t made any difference to the large influx of crime in the last four months.
