Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge is Here

Four days after the new Royal baby was born, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have named him. The baby boy is called Prince Louis Arthur Charles, Kensington Palace revealed.

Kensington Palace also tweeted, that the baby will be know as “His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge”.

The name is derived for the honour of the Prince’s grandfather Charles and Lord Louis Mountbatten, the former Viceroy of British India who had been killed in an IRA bombing in 1979.

One of the most predicted names for the baby, Arthur, still appears but not as a first, but rather a middle name. The name pays significant tribute to the Royal Family, as the baby shares names with his brother, father and grandfather.

Prince Louis was born on Monday, April 23 at 11.01am in St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington.

The new-born is the sixth great-grandchild of the Queen and Philip.

While Kate was home with the new Prince, her husband Prince William, joined his brother Harry and soon-to-be sister-in-law Meghan Markle at Westminster Abbey for an Anzac Day service on Wednesday.

The name Louis is also one of Prince George’s middle names. It has French and German origin and it means “renowned warrior”.

It is the 71th most popular name in England and Wales, with only 911 boys being given that name in 2016, according to a figure recorded by the Office for National Statistics.

Prince Louis Arthur Charles has been welcomed with the ringing of the bells in Westminster Abbey as well as gun fire salutes.
